Nord-Pas de Calais, a large region in the field of agri-food research

Nord-Pas de Calais is one of the first regions of France's research and development food, both at the level of resources invested in R & D level of public and private.




Quality and Safety

The research focuses on the concerns of quality and safety of products and foods. The strengthening of relations between research and industry has enabled the development of innovation across the device research and transfer regional food.

A structured network

The region has a structured network of scientific and technological developments that meet the needs of the regional food economy.

This network is built around 3 poles :

-in Lille, a very important center of research and innovation support with :

• the INRA (engineering and process hygiene, microbiology)


• the ISA (food quality, production management)


• the IAAL and the USTL (plant biotechnology, bio-industrial processes)


• and the IPL (microbiology and food quality)

-in Boulogne-sur-Mer, a pole halio-agro-industrial grouping :

• the Pôle Filière Halieutique (interface between business center of the fishing industry and research)


• the ULCO (Food Microbiology)


• the AFSSA (food safety)


• and the CEVPM (Center d'Etudes et de Valorisation des Produits de la Mer) in connection with IFREMER (processing seafood)

-Finally with UVHC, a center that studies the process engineering, soft technologies, instrumentation and sensors for monitoring the quality, the genius of the formulation.

Competence centers close

Centers of technological support businesses in all phases of development including in their creation.

This is in Arras, in ADRIANOR for meat and ready meals and the INRACQ for craft and CEVPM of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

CERTIA The Interface is the central structure of this device, responding to requests for technical support and accompaniment project undertaken by the relation with the resource centers (centers, consulting firms, financial ...).

An ambitious plan contract
Experience in France, for the strategic plan 2000-2006, the agri-food sector in the region is the subject of a program specific support for innovation.
